Welcome to the Revolution

Get Nekkid was born out of two beliefs:

  1. We need more authentic representation of what the journey of self love REALLY looks like.

  2. Femme people need a safe space to share the painful, the taboo and the shameful stories and they need a space to find freedom from them.

With that, Get Nekkid was born.

My goal is to continue living out the mission of Rebel (v.) Apparel — to release all that is not serving me — by both giving you a transparent look into my personal journey and creating a safe space through vulnerability for femme people (and allies) to shed, grow and heal together in community.

So why Get Nekkid? Are you really about to take your clothes off?

I just may — because sex and body positivity — *shrugs* .

To be honest the name came from an AHA moment while watching a Being Mary Jane episode with the same title. I realized that self-love is less about bubble baths and trendy, socially-conscious buzzwords and more about shedding ego and fear. You have to shed the bullshit — get nekkid — in order to find find freedom. And thats what I aim to do.

I will do my best to be fearlessly, transparent in sharing my journey to self with you. My hope is that you will be inspired to share along with me, so that we can create a safe space to grow and heal together.

It's not going to be pretty all the time and I am gonna share both the pain and the pleasure. I will always give a Trigger Warning when stories of abuse and violence come up. But know, that nothing is taboo or off limits in this space. We can no longer afford to hide behind our shame.

In Auntie Assata’s words:

“It is our duty to fight for our freedom.

It is our duty to win.

We must love each other and support each other.

We have nothing to lose but our chains.”

― Assata Shakur, Assata: An Autobiography

So what do you say, wanna Get Nekkid with me?
